Job Description

Kentucky Educational Television (KET) is seeking a skilled Broadcast Engineer to join its team at the Louisville Network Center. As a key member of our technical operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our broadcast systems, including studio equipment, production servers, and master control playout systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in broadcast systems, with experience in routing and distribution systems, video servers, playout automation systems, and digital audio systems. You will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the engineering and IT functions at KET's Louisville Production facility, as well as working with outside contractors and vendors to ensure the highest level of technical support.

Key responsibilities will include configuring and monitoring video levels for KET studio and remote productions, installing and repairing studio and broadcast television equipment, and maintaining departmental physical inventory records. You will also be responsible for performing daily monitoring of broadcast and production systems, performing scheduled routine maintenance, and minimizing service interruptions when equipment or services fail.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of FCC rules related to broadcast television signals and will be able to work under deadline pressure in an efficient, creative, and positive manner. A valid driver's license is required to drive KET vehicles.

Key qualifications include an associate's degree in electronics, IT, or a related area of study and five years of experience in broadcast systems.
