Parking Enforcement Specialist

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Parking Enforcement Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Abandoned Vehicle Unit, you will play a crucial role in enforcing parking regulations and ensuring public safety.
Job SummaryThe ideal candidate will have a strong background in law enforcement or a related field, with experience in conducting field inspections, enforcing regulations, and interacting with the public. You will be responsible for investigating complaints of abandoned vehicles, determining if vehicles need immediate tow, and coordinating with other county departments on vehicle removal. Your excellent communication skills and ability to work independently will make you an asset to our team.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate complaints of abandoned vehicles within Prince George's County through personal observation, communication referrals, and sworn personnel referrals.
- Determine if vehicles need immediate tow and initiate tow and receipt of vehicles at the impound lot as required.
- Coordinate with other county departments on the removal of vehicles from private property locations.
- Patrol designated parking areas thoroughly and diligently for purposes of monitoring, regulating, and controlling parking.
- Ensure that vehicle tow paperwork is signed and returned to the Abandoned Vehicle team for processing and recordkeeping.
- High school diploma or GED with three years of working experience as a Parking Enforcement Officer, demonstrating the abilities necessary to perform essential duties.
- Ability to drive and walk for long periods of time (up to 8 hours per day).
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull an object of at least 50 pounds.
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle driver's license with a driving record dating back five years.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation.
- Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, crouching, standing, and reaching.
- Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
- $21.00/hour Non-exempt - eligible for overtime.
