Job Overview

Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, a 6-12th grade tuition-free public charter school in Fort Worth, Texas, is seeking a dedicated substitute teacher to provide a safe, challenging learning environment for our students. As an AVPA substitute teacher, you will be responsible for ensuring the continuity of our students' education in the absence of their regular classroom teacher.

Salary and Benefits

The daily rate for this role is $90-$130 per day, competitively priced for the PK-12 charter market. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits that support the well-being and success of our employees.

Responsibilities
  • Report to the Assistant Principal or Office Manager upon arrival at the school building
  • Review lesson plans and schedules with the Assistant Principal, department head, or team leader
  • Enable students to continue their education with minimal disruption
  • Maintain effective classroom management and adhere to school policies and procedures
  • Take student attendance and monitor student learning
  • Assume responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class and during teacher-assigned locations and times
  • Complete a summary of work completed at the end of each teaching day
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Proof of completion of a minimum of 48 accredited hours at an institution of higher education
  • Completion of the AVPA Substitute Orientation Process
  • Availability to work at least two days per week, as needed
  • Interpersonal skills to work well with children, parents, and school staff
  • A successful criminal background check
