We are seeking a senior controls engineer responsible for providing hands-on electrical support for the installation, start-up, and debugging of manufacturing process equipment. This role involves working with a multi-functional team, including mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, and operations, and requires travel to project sites as necessary.

Job Summary

This position entails managing electrical trades executing equipment installation and debugging. The ideal candidate will verify wiring done to print, answer questions, and perform point-to-point checks. Additionally, they will set up and commission PLCs, drives, and field I/O, perform safety validation checks per SAT documents, and coordinate installation plans with safety and plant receivers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical Support: Provide hands-on electrical support for the installation, start-up, and debugging of manufacturing process equipment.
  • Wiring Verification: Verify wiring done to print, answer questions, and perform point-to-point checks.
  • PLC Commissioning: Set up and commission PLCs, drives, and field I/O.
  • Safety Validation: Perform safety validation checks per SAT documents.
  • Installation Planning: Coordinate installation plans with safety and plant receivers.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in automated equipment design, installation, start-up, and debugging in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Skills: Familiarity with the design and programming of PLC systems, primarily Allen Bradley ControlLogix (Studio 5000, RSLinx, FactoryTalk View). Experience in configuration and setup of ControlLogix PLC, Ethernet IP communication, HMI SCADA iFix (minor changes and troubleshooting), drive setup and tuning (Yaskawa drives), and PID tuning.
  • Aptitude: Ability to read and update electrical schematics. Knowledge of machine guarding and safety practices and standards. Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to collaborate and work with diverse teams. Capable of multitasking and working with minimal direction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commissioning Experience: Experience with commissioning PLCs, drives, and sensors across a large integrated manufacturing line.
  • Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with safety validation checks and installation planning.
Salary Estimate

The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
