Job Summary

We are seeking highly skilled and experienced auditors to join our team at the Texas State Auditor's Office. As a Senior Auditor, you will be responsible for conducting audits of state agencies, institutions of higher education, and other entities that receive state funding. Your expertise will be utilized to assess data reliability and security, identify risks, and provide recommendations for improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and complete audits of state entities, including financial and performance audits.
  • Review IT systems and controls to assess data reliability and security.
  • Apply project management concepts to plan and monitor audit timelines.
  • Determine the appropriate data analysis tools and utilize them to complete audit procedures.
  • Prepare and review audit documentation to ensure conformance with auditing standards.
  • Present findings and recommendations to clients and management.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, or a related field. Additionally, you should have 4-9 years of experience in auditing, information technology/systems auditing, financial analysis, or a related field. Relevant certifications and advanced degrees may be substituted for experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in public sector auditing, Single Audit Act federal compliance auditing, cost accounting, budgeting in Texas government, or accounting/business processes is highly desirable. Certifications such as CISA, CISSP, or CPA are also preferred.
