Museum Engagement Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Museum Engagement Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will work directly with guests to facilitate their learning and enjoyment in our science center. You will be responsible for helping guests have a safe, fun, educational, and interactive experience.
Your duties will include assisting guests on the Science Center floor, resetting and cleaning manipulative exhibits, answering questions, and maintaining necessary familiarity with exhibits, programs, and amenities. You will also complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks, identify broken or damaged exhibits, and submit repair tickets. Additionally, you will act as a point of contact for the education department during field trips and birthday parties, and assist with hosting group visits.
As a flexible team player, you will work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. You must be able to communicate professionally with guests, enjoy working with families and groups of children, and demonstrate a strong attention to detail. A Pennsylvania State Police Clearance, Child Abuse History Clearance, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Record Information are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist guests on the Science Center floor by explaining and facilitating the use of exhibits.
- Reset and clean manipulative exhibits after use by guests.
- Answer questions from guests and maintain necessary familiarity with exhibits, programs, and amenities.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks as identified by the Cleaning Rotation and assigned by management.
- Identify broken or damaged exhibits and submit repair tickets.
- Act as a point of contact for the education department during field trips and birthday parties.
- Assist with hosting group visits, including greeting groups, orientations, escorting groups, and assisting with departures.
Requirements
- Excellent oral communication skills and ability to communicate professionally with guests.
- Excellent interpersonal and guest service skills, with the ability to work with families and groups of children.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to successfully complete background checks.
