Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing MRI exams, reviewing physician orders, and ensuring patient safety.

Responsibilities

  1. Review physician orders for accuracy and completeness
  2. Screen patients for MRI appropriateness and review any contraindications for exams
  3. Discuss findings with the physicist and radiologist as applicable
  4. Document changes as appropriate in electronic health record
  5. Ensure other resources such as nursing have been scheduled accordingly
  6. Interview patients, conduct patient screening, and obtain medical history pertaining to procedure's clinical criteria
  7. Explain procedure and instruct patients on necessary requirements needed to provide diagnostic images
  8. Answer questions/screening concerning procedures and IV contrast for relevant exams
  9. Assist the physician as needed in performing procedures
  10. Ensure that images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling
  11. Utilize technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age-specific criteria
  12. Complete exam charges and image documentation in a timely manner
  13. Administer intravenous injections of contrast material as appropriate, observe patients for adverse reactions
  14. Perform MRI ensuring that patient meets safety requirements to MRI contraindications
  15. Assist patient in dressing for exam and attend to patient's physical well-being while transporting to and from exam room and positioning for exam
  16. Instruct/communicate with patient and/or patient's family (as appropriate) regarding the tests to be performed and evaluates the patient's ability to tolerate
  17. Perform QC testing and reports problems with MRI systems and workstations to the service engineer/biomed, with additional correspondence sent to the physicist and imaging leadership
  18. Maintains various data sets (ex. Baseline scans, 12 month scans, 24 month scans) and archives
  19. Performs data calculations, scoring and statistical analyses while following established QC standards for digital images
  20. Participates in accreditation imaging requirements
  21. Performs post-processing on MRI systems and remote workstations
  22. May include, but not limited to, MIPing, MPR, 3-D rendering, qualitative and color mapping for breast imaging, ADC mapping and color mapping of diffusion scans, cardiac analysis to assess cardiac function including ejection fractions and wall thickness, spectroscopy analysis, and calculation of T1 and T2 values
  23. Must be able to lift 40-50lbs
  24. Responds to inquiries/calls/emails in a timely and professional manner
  25. Communicates shift hand-off regarding workflow issues with equipment or pending exams with oncoming staff
  26. Engages in equitable distribution of departmental workloads
  27. Actively participates in providing orientation and training for new hires and students ensuring that procedures are performed according to set standards
  28. Functions in the department as a part of an interdisciplinary team, and collaborates in the care and service delivery process of patient care through effective communication with other service lines
  29. Prioritizes exams with scheduling exams to ensure smooth workflow, minimize wait times and address stat and urgent requests
  30. Adheres to hospital policies, regulatory compliance, new yearly metrics/department goals, patient satisfaction, and fiscally responsible with regards to equipment, supplies scheduling, overtime, etc.
  31. Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures that all processes and procedures are maintained to secure and protect all workstations in all work areas

Work is performed primarily in a hospital or hospital clinic environment.
