Sports Coach

As a Youth Sports Educator with the City of Fremont, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of children and adults through sports programs. With a strong emphasis on fun and skill development, our camps and programs cater to individuals aged 5-12 years old.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to teach various sports such as Badminton, Basketball, Baseball, Cricket, Football, Softball, Soccer, Tennis, and others. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Preparing areas for specific sports, ensuring all equipment is available, and setting up gyms or sports fields as needed.
• Taught all necessary aspects of sports, including basic and advanced game mechanics, strategies, and rules.
• Maintaining accurate records of games, if applicable, and keeping rosters and city forms up-to-date.
• Implementing lesson plans provided by the City and enforcing its policies and procedures.
• Providing encouragement to participants and creating a positive atmosphere for play.
• Participating in promotional opportunities, staff training, and meetings when required.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• A minimum age of 15 years old.
• Basic knowledge or background in basketball.
• Experience working with children.
• The ability to work independently and reliably complete tasks.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deliver feedback to parents and establish productive working relationships with staff, management, and clients.
• A strong attitude and ability to maintain a positive demeanor in changing environments.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

In addition to the above requirements, we require:

• Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact, discretion, and awareness of confidentiality.
• Effective communication with adults and children from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Willingness to comply with child abuse reporting laws (11166.5 PC).
• Certification in Adult/Child CPR & First Aid from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or supervisor-approved equivalent, obtained within 30 days of hire date or prior to the first day of work.
• Fingerprinting and TB testing are mandatory.
• Verification of legal right to work in the United States as a condition of employment.

The estimated annual salary for this position is $52,000 - $62,000 based on experience and qualifications, with benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
