We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team at Shambaugh & Son L.P., a leading construction and engineering firm in the US. As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining fire alarm systems on various projects, including commercial and industrial sites.

We have over 95 years of experience and are one of the largest specialty contractors in the US, with all eight M.E.P (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Automation, Refrigeration, HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) design and installation capabilities in-house.

Estimated Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year

As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be working closely with our team to deliver high-quality services and ensure customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing on-site inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of fire alarm, suppression, and releasing systems
  • Reading and understanding project documentation and work orders, determining if additional information is needed
  • Informing coordinators of any problems or concerns with assigned projects
  • Developing a thorough understanding of integrating fire alarm systems with HVAC controls, smoke management systems, elevator controllers, sprinkler/suppression systems, card access, security systems, and CCTV
  • Having a thorough understanding of fire alarm protection principles and systems, as well as specific arrangements and operations of suppression systems and releasing functions
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma/GED and 2-4 years of experience in the installation of low-voltage systems, including fire/life safety systems, access control systems, nurse call systems, paging systems, high-rise smoke control systems, school clock systems, and telephone systems
  • Knowledge of test equipment, including multi-meters, digital analyzers, frequency meters, decibel meters, and communicating devices
  • Fundamental knowledge of Ohm's law, resistance, and AC/DC circuits
  • The ability to effectively handle stressful situations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups
