Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Senior Operating Room Technician to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. As a Senior Operating Room Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical department.

About This Role:

The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of experience as a Surgical Technologist and be certified by The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. They will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and actively monitoring situations that could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
  • Prepare patient skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards and transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite.
  • Position patients according to the type of surgery, identify and care for biological specimens, and prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case.
  • Establish and maintain the sterile field, pass instruments, and sutures to the physician, and assist as directed by the physician.
  • Use the physician preference card as a beginning point when pulling cases and setting up the OR, and ensure that preference cards are kept up to date and as complete as possible.
  • Work effectively as a member of the team caring for the patient, cooperate in team planning and execution, and maintain a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices.

Requirements:

  • BLS certification required
  • Certification of Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN License required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of the Surgical Technology program required

Estimated Salary Range: $45,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
