Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Field Laboratory Specialist to join our team. As a critical part of our quantitative drug testing analysis, you will be responsible for efficiently and safely obtaining urine samples from patients for laboratory testing.

About the Role

In this role, you will conduct observed and/or supervised specimen collections, ensuring that all procedures are followed in accordance with departmental policies and guidelines. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the collection, processing, and shipping of urine specimens, while maintaining the highest level of customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the collection, processing, and shipping of urine specimens
  • Collect urine specimens from patients
  • Follow departmental policies to correctly identify patients before any specimen is obtained
  • Properly label and document specimens and prepare for shipment
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse patient population base
  • Follow Universal Precautions and all OSHA standards when handling specimens
  • Maintain neat, clean, orderly patient/work areas at all times
Requirements
  • Verifiable track-record of providing excellent customer service
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic
  • Strong computer skills – must be able to work in multiple programs and windows, manage email and reports
  • Fast and accurate data entry
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with accuracy, credibility, and confidence
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Physical activities include frequent walking, sitting, bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and squatting
