Adjunct Language Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Language Instructor to teach Beginning Swahili I at Eastern Michigan University. As an Adjunct Language Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and developing curriculum for language courses.

**Job Summary:**
The Department of World Languages is accepting applications for a Part-Time Lecturer to teach Beginning Swahili I Winter Semester 2025. All 4 language skills plus grammar and vocabulary are required. If the course is successful, they will be asked to teach two sections in the Fall 2025 semester.

**Responsibilities:**
Teaching may include:

• Meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes
• Assessing student work and performance
• Preparing syllabi and course materials
• Providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request
• Assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules

**Perform related departmental duties as required.**

**Requirements:**
A Master's degree in a related field is required. Training and experience in language teaching are also necessary. Knowledge of Swahili at an OPI Advanced Low level is a must. A syllabus and textbooks will be provided by the grant PI.

**Salary Estimate:** The estimated salary for this position is around $45,000-$50,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
