Radiological Controls Technician II

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiological Controls Technician II to join our team at Fermilab. As a key member of our Environmental, Safety, and Health Department, you will provide technical support for radiological surveys, waste disposal, and environmental sampling. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform periodic radiological surveys and routine corrective measures for violations found.
Assist in accelerator beamline enclosure surveys and recognize required postings in areas.
Conduct environmental sampling of sumps and provide coverage of RCT Coverage/Radiological Work Permit jobs under direct supervision.
Participate in down-posting and clearance surveys, and assist in dummy hiding for search & secure Quality Assurance checks.
Exchange instruments for calibration and re-stock PPE stations as needed.
Perform Material Move Request surveys and classification of and surveys on radioactive waste.
Requirements:
High School Degree or GED with 2+ years of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface effectively with the Laboratory user/visitor community and employees.
Interest in radiation safety/protection, particle accelerators, and their operations.
Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-motivation and initiative.
