Job Description

The Production Director is a key member of the senior staff at Barrington Stage Company, collaborating closely with the Artistic Director and Managing Director to achieve the organization's goals and maintain the aesthetic quality and integrity of all work.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all physical aspects of shows and special events, including scenery, props, costumes, lighting, sound, and projections, while ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Generate, maintain, and distribute the yearly Production Calendar.
  • Work with the Production Management Team to interview and hire production and maintenance staff, with a focus on under-represented populations.
  • Implement EDI procedures established by the theatre.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to create and oversee production budgets.
  • Work with each Production Department Shop Head to control and track expenses, ensuring timely and budget-friendly show production.
  • Oversee tracking of production labor and submit weekly payroll.
  • Ensure rehearsals have necessary props, scenic elements, and costumes.
  • Maintain open communication between the Director, Designers, and production departments to ensure aesthetic quality and integrity.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Attend technical rehearsals as needed.
  • Organize production meetings for all shows and special events.

This position reports to the Managing Director and Artistic Director and requires working nights and weekends during production periods.

Salary is $70,000, plus relocation assistance for out-of-town candidates, and a competitive benefits package including paid vacation, health, and dental insurance, vision, life insurance, and a 403b plan.
