As a nonprofit community hospital, we offer a full complement of award-winning services, including the Leavey Cancer Center, a cardiovascular center, and the Center for Assault Treatment Services.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Patient Registration Representative to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of insurance policies and procedures, as well as working knowledge of medical terminology.
Responsibilities
- Accurately and efficiently register patients for medical services, including verifying patient information and insurance coverage.
- Obtain necessary information, such as medical history, medications, allergies, and other related information from patients and ensure that all information is entered correctly into the electronic health record.
- Assist patients in filling out necessary paperwork and collect copays and outstanding balances at the time of service.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the appropriate care.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related roles.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Fire Safety certification required (have 90 days to obtain as of hire date).
Skills:
- Thorough understanding of insurance policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Able to perform basic mathematics for payment calculation.
- Experience in requesting and processing financial payments.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
- Knowledge of charity care programs, as well as the various government and non-government programs preferred.
This position is represented by SEIU UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
