Key Position Details:

  • 0.75 FTE (60 hours per two-week schedule)
  • 12-hour day shifts
  • Every third weekend rotation
  • Benefit-eligible position

Job Responsibilities:

As a Patient Care Technician, you will provide basic direct and indirect patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician. This includes taking and documenting vital signs, answering call lights, assisting patients with activities of daily living, and other clerical duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observation and Documentation: Observe, collect, and document health status data as assigned. This includes completing measurements according to critical elements of policy/procedures, reporting immediately to the RN observations/health status data that are not within normal limits for the patient or are significantly changed.
  • Personal Care and Interventions: Perform personal care/interventions as assigned, including assisting patients with activities of daily living, answering patient call lights promptly, and assisting patients with grooming and hygiene needs.
  • Clerical Duties: Perform clerical duties and assist with patient registration, including processing physician orders, documenting relevant patient information, and transporting medication.

Requirements:

  • Must meet one of the following requirements: 18 years of age or 17 years of age with a high school diploma or GED
  • Must meet one of the following requirements: Completion of one semester of clinical rotations with an accredited nursing program or successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or completion of the Allina Health Nursing Assistant Academy Program or NREMT certification upon hire or previous direct patient care experience

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must meet one of the requirements below: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross or Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire

Physical Demands:

  • Medium Work*: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently
