Come work with our fast-paced, exciting Emergency Room Team as a Veterinary Technician. We are looking for a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team in a part-time capacity.

Available Shift:
  • 12pm-12am Saturday and Sunday Admitting/ICU
Compensation

Compensation is based on experience & skill level

  • RVTs: $28 - $40 per hour
  • Non-credentialed techs: $21 - $35 per hour
Responsibilities

As a veterinary technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Assessing patients upon arrival and prioritizing them based on their health status
  • Initiating stabilization treatments such as intravenous catheterization, blood collection, fluid therapy, oxygen therapy and administering medications as directed by veterinarian
  • Participating in the development and implementation of treatment plans created by the veterinarian
  • Administering high quality patient care through timely monitoring; correctly performing treatments as directed by veterinarian
  • Collecting and analyzing blood, urine, fecal and skin samples in our in-house laboratory full of Idexx analyzers
  • Administering anesthetic drugs and adjusting them as needed during procedures and surgery, while recording and monitoring vital signs
  • Producing images of soft-tissues, organs and bones safely with digital radiography equipment
  • Placing nasoesophageal and nasogastric feeding tubes for critical nutrition by mastering various suturing techniques
  • Supplying patients in need with packed red blood cell and frozen plasma transfusions
  • Correctly calculating drug dosages and administering drugs as directed by veterinarian
  • Lavage and assisting in bandaging different wounds and lacerations
  • Providing top quality care for post-surgical cases, including specialty ICU cases
  • Providing outstanding customer service when triaging, gathering patient information and relevant history
  • Attending CE courses/webinars or hands-on training as requested by the Clinical Educator
  • Regularly attending staff meetings
Requirements

We are looking for a veterinary technician with:

  • Working knowledge and skill required to nurse critically ill and emergency patients
  • Ability to critically think, problem solve, and make decisions in order to follow through on DVM orders
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and the ability to learn new veterinary based software applications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful work environment. Must be able to maintain professionalism and composure at all times.
  • Able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, clients and the public in a professional manner
  • Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
  • Ability to speak, read and write the English language
