Job Summary

EJM Associates LLC, a strategic consulting firm, and The EFI Foundation, a nonprofit organization, are seeking a Policy Outreach Associate to serve as our team's liaison with federal agencies, Congressional offices, and other government offices and personnel.

The ideal candidate will have experience on Capitol Hill, the Department of Energy, and/or other federal offices, with a strong understanding of the U.S. political process and legislative calendars. They will be responsible for monitoring and tracking policy developments, creating stakeholder maps and contact lists, establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, and leading or participating in briefings for congressional offices and other relevant stakeholders.

The Policy Outreach Associate will work closely with the Senior Corporate Relations Manager and EJM's principals to deliver on client services, which span various sectors but typically include energy companies and technology providers. This position offers the opportunity to work on some of the timeliest decarbonization issues, collaborate with senior industry leaders, and inform corporate strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and track policy developments at the federal and state level, focusing on renewable energy, the electricity sector, industrial decarbonization, clean fuels, and carbon management.
  • Create and maintain stakeholder maps and contact lists, including U.S. policy makers and their staff, executives, and other thought leaders.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including congressional offices and other government offices and personnel.
  • Lead or participate in briefings for congressional offices and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in client and prospective client meetings.
  • Lead/contribute to the production of client deliverables, such as reports, memos, presentations, and stakeholder maps.
  • Conduct policy research and analysis, summarizing key findings in written reports and verbal communications to EJM leadership and clients.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional experience on Capitol Hill or at a federal agency.
  • Knowledge of the U.S. political process and legislative calendars.
  • Proven experience and interest in energy and/or climate policy.
  • Strong interpersonal relations and ability to establish and maintain relationships outside the immediate work unit.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including in communication of complex and highly technical information.
  • Familiarity with Excel and CRMs.
  • Confidence in handling confidential information.
  • U.S. citizenship or authorization to reside and work in the United States.
