Job Summary:

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist performs diagnostic MRI procedures according to established protocols or physician's special instructions. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and maintain accurate patient and department records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Properly identifies and transports patients to and from the MRI scan room as needed.
  • Interviews and screens patients for contraindications, consulting with supervisor radiologist or attending physicians as needed.
  • Performs MRI studies, obtains patient history, explains routine procedures, and addresses patient concerns.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies as needed for each study, ensuring emergency requests are performed on a timely basis.
  • Positions patients, attaches or adjusts immobilization devices as needed, practicing sterile techniques and monitoring patient movement and positioning.
  • Adjusts and operates MRI equipment to scan designated anatomical areas in a safe and effective manner, following MRI safety protocols.
  • Reviews and evaluates completed scans for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered, ensuring quality images are available for radiologists to make an accurate diagnosis.
  • Assists in reviewing and updating technical protocols and scheduling procedures for studies in the MRI department as requested.
  • Provides assistance in training additional MRI staff as needed.
  • Maintains personal commitment to The Orthopaedic Institute's mission and values, attending regular staff meetings and other required meetings.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a 24-month AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Typically requires 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven history of ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be energetic, quality-driven, and have a proven ability to be a productive member of a cohesive team.
  • National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required, with licensure as an AART MRI registry or registry-eligible.
  • Current certification in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for healthcare providers required.
