Job Overview

Wayman Fire Protection is seeking an experienced Fire Protection and Life Safety Sales Representative to join our team. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for expanding our customer base and maintaining existing relationships in the Southern Delaware and Eastern Shore areas of our territory.

You will perform site visits, gather necessary information for proposals, and utilize your sales experience to proactively identify, pursue, and maintain a constant pipeline of potential customers via prospecting, networking, and referral activities within your region.

We are looking for someone who is flexible, ambitious, and has a hunger for success. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of customers, including general contractors and end users, to present and sell our fire protection and life safety products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Present and sell company fire protection and life safety products to new and existing customers.
  • Prospect and contact potential customers.
  • Reach agreed upon sales targets by the deadline.
  • Estimate small projects including fixed price service as required in addition to large projects ranging from $100k-$1MM+
  • Resolve customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Set follow-up appointments to keep customers aware of the latest developments.
  • Create sales material to present to customers.
  • Develop a positive ongoing relationship with existing and new customers, general contractors, and end users.
  • Read and comprehend plans and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates including design, materials, fabrication, equipment, permits, subcontracts, consulting fees, and installation labor.
  • Negotiate, review, and execute price and terms of agreements.
  • Maintain knowledge and have a clear understanding of the application of all local and national codes, specifications, and guidelines set forth by authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Participate in pre-bid, pre-construction, and post project completion meetings.
  • Meet productivity and timeline goals for bids produced. Determine customer needs and develop a sales strategy to gain customer understanding of company offerings.
  • Close sufficient sales to exceed sales plan objectives.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in fire protection and life safety estimating/sales industry
  • Thorough understanding of general construction methods, practices, NFPA codes, and terminology.
  • Strong knowledge of local and national fire and building codes & government regulations.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and computer skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles.
  • High level of self-discipline, motivation, and ability to operate in a team environment.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
