About the Role
HCA Florida Memorial Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a vital part of our patient care team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department.
Responsibilities
- Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
- Perform routine and high-risk procedures as prescribed by the Physician and follow appropriate policy in the application of respiratory procedures.
- Communicate with physicians on the effectiveness of respiratory care procedures and thoroughly explain and answer patient and family questions regarding respiratory care.
- Review patients' charts to verify order and check for contradictions of therapy and assess patient and provide proper documentation in patient's chart as related to therapy.
- Assemble, install, disassemble, assess and maintain equipment according to manufacturer and department policy.
Requirements
- Related degree from accredited school - Associate in Respiratory Therapy or Bachelor Degree in Respiratory Therapy is Required.
- RRT or RCP FL License - Registered Respiratory Therapist or Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Florida, in accordance with law and regulation, is Required.
- 1-3 years of experience is preferred. Hospital setting experience highly desirable.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) Provider is required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
