Our Mission
We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Engineer to lead the execution of engineering efforts for the Space Systems and Hardware Integration for Novel Space Experiments (SSHINE) program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a key member of our team, this position will serve as a primary technical leader for our continued expansion in the growing Albuquerque aerospace and defense market.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:- Program Oversight & Execution: Develop and adapt program technical execution plans, provide technical guidance to multi-disciplined engineering teams, and drive the technical direction of multiple, independent missions to success.
- Leadership & Team Development: Assist with hiring and retention of skilled personnel, mentor and guide project technical teams, and foster a collaborative environment.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear and continuous communication regarding project status, changes, and risk mitigation.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with DoD regulations, standards, and security requirements, manage quality control of contract deliverables, and ensure compliance with program schedules, budgets, and US Government requirements.
- Risk Management: Perform risk analysis, identify and assess project risks, develop and execute risk mitigation plans, and monitor potential issues to adjust project plans as necessary.
- Resource Management: Manage GFE resources and schedules to ensure cross-program mission success, allocate resources effectively, and track technical performance against established metrics.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 10+ years of engineering experience, preferably within the DoD industry.
- Experience with DoD space missions and programs, cradle-to-grave technical leadership of space programs, managing/leading engineering and technical personnel.
- Strong engineering and organizational skills, excellent leadership and team-building abilities, problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities.
- Proficiency in common engineering and project organization toolsets, experience with program risk, issue, and opportunity management.
- Experience supporting business development initiatives, including developing technical and cost elements for submission to customers.
