We are seeking a highly skilled Support Specialist to join our treatment team at Turning Point Inc. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our treatment programs and services.

Job Description

The Support Specialist will provide support and guidance to clients throughout their treatment journey, ensuring they adhere to program rules and routines. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing support and guidance to clients, including explaining program rules and routines
  • Ensuring client schedules are adhered to and providing support to the Program Coordinator with appointment facilitation and service provision
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation, including shift notes and incident reports, while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards in record-keeping and confidentiality
  • Managing behavior emergencies using protective procedures and de-escalation techniques according to Turning Point policy
  • Completing incident reports and including shift notes
  • Performing administrative duties, including answering phones, checking emails, maintaining supplies, assigning client chore lists, and additional duties assigned by the Program Coordinator
  • Communicating effectively with other members of the treatment team, including counselors and medical staff, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated client care

Requirements for this role include:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in addiction counseling or related fields is an asset
  • Knowledge of addiction treatment modalities and mental health concepts
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and staff from diverse backgrounds
  • Compassion, empathy, and the ability to provide non-judgmental support to clients
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in using electronic health record systems and other software programs
  • Knowledge of ethical and legal standards related to client confidentiality and record-keeping
  • Crisis intervention skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations
