Law Enforcement Officer

As a Reserve Deputy Sheriff, you will work under the direction of the County Sheriff or designee, performing limited sheriff's patrol, traffic control, and related law enforcement duties. This role requires a high level of physical fitness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• You will conduct security patrols, traffic control, and assist deputy sheriffs and the public on various matters, including safety awareness, community and school events, fairs, drag ways, dances, and parades.
• You will carry out duties in conformance with Federal, State, County, and City laws and ordinances.
• You will ride along with sheriff deputies to patrol County and City streets, parks, commercial and residential areas to assist sheriff's deputies in preserving the peace, enforcing the law, protecting the public, and controlling vehicular traffic.

To be considered for this role, you must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, be at least 21 years of age, and have a valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record. You must also undergo a structured training program/academy and qualify with approved firearms as outlined by departmental policy and MCOLES requirements.

In addition to the above qualifications, you must not have any felony criminal convictions and be able to pass a department criminal background investigation.
