The South's Audience Team is a dynamic group responsible for optimizing newsroom performance across multiple platforms. Our team works closely with reporters and editors to craft headlines, social posts, and other content that resonates with diverse audiences. We are seeking an experienced leader to join our team as an Audience Associate Manager.

Job Summary

We are looking for a strategic and creative individual to lead our audience efforts. As an Audience Associate Manager, you will work with newsrooms to develop workflow and strategy, ensuring our content reaches a wide range of audiences. The ideal candidate should have experience making data-driven decisions, providing guidance during breaking news situations, and leveraging SEO, social media, and video to engage new audiences.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, solid news judgment, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues. You will be responsible for setting daily and long-term plans for digital products, supervising audience specialists, and enforcing digital best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement daily and long-term plans for digital products
  • Supervise audience specialists to optimize stories for maximum impact
  • Enforce digital best practices and standards
  • Edit stories as needed to ensure accuracy and clarity
  • Work closely with editors to track progress and identify areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with audience specialists on special projects and review assets before publication
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a lead role or as a manager
  • Advanced editing and headline skills
  • Excellent news judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Experience overseeing digital publications and managing teams
  • Knowledge of newsroom workflows and standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
