You will be responsible for the surveillance of clients' healthcare premises and the protection of staff, members, and visitors.

A Hospital Protective Services Professional detects and prevents suspicious activity, observes incidents, and provides customer service in a friendly and professional manner.

Estimated Salary: $18.53 per hour

Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must have:

  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record (in the event of a driver needed) or government/state ID
  • Two years of verifiable employment history relating to this position - Security, Healthcare, Customer Service, Military, Law Enforcement, Corrections
  • Natural hair color
  • No face/neck tattoos
  • Comfortable with restraining individuals when needed, dealing with combative patients
  • Comfortable transporting patients to the morgue when needed
  • Comfortable with heights (you may need to assist in helicopter transports back down to the ER)
  • Comfortable with needles (you will need a TB test and required vaccinations where applicable)
Job Duties

Your responsibilities as a Hospital Protective Services Professional will include:

  • Transporting patients to the emergency room
  • Patrolling: walking the hospital grounds and looking for anything suspicious or concerning
  • Reporting: notifying leadership or other protective services professionals of anything important
  • Controlling access: ensuring that only authorized individuals can enter and exit the hospital, and that no contraband or hospital items are brought in or out
  • Preventing crime: trying to stop criminal activity, such as theft, vandalism, and disturbances
  • Responding to emergencies: helping with evacuations during fires, medical emergencies, and natural disasters
  • Managing issues: addressing security issues with patients or visitors, and using verbal de-escalation skills to resolve safety incidents
  • Maintaining confidentiality: being discreet when handling private information
Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Observing and remaining vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity
  • Patrolling on foot, bicycle, or via a vehicle to check for unsafe conditions, blocked entryways, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized individuals
  • Orally and physically de-escalating individuals, as needed
  • Inspecting all security devices and fire control equipment
  • Screening members, visitors, and client employees to expedite their admittance to the facility
  • Responding to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, or inclement weather with calm urgency
  • May also include patient escort, patient watch, providing safety escort, assisting, and/or transporting deceased to the morgue
Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Prior work experience involving dealing with customers, troubleshooting, and/or managing stressful situations
  • Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles;
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable experience
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
