Job Summary:

UNC Health is seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant I to provide high-quality patient care in a hospital, clinic, or home healthcare setting. As a key member of our team, you will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician to deliver exceptional care to our patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, ensuring the procurement of necessary equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
  • In psychiatric settings, you will aid patients in reality orientation, participate in behavior modification plans/therapy, provide informal support therapy to patients/families, and facilitate age-appropriate play for children.
  • Collect and document patient information, promptly reporting significant changes in a patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
  • Provide assistance to patients and their families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
  • Deliver care and treatments as outlined in the patient's plan of care, including vital sign measurement, specimen collection, and personal care activities.
  • Support patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning, restocking supplies, and transporting patients and equipment.
  • Reinforce patient education and document patient understanding of instructions.

Requirements:

  • Listing as a Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position with a standard 36-hour workweek. The salary range is $23.46 per hour, with pay offers determined by experience and internal equity. The work schedule is night shifts, and the location is UNC REX Healthcare in Raleigh, NC.
