Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Farm Operations Management Trainee to join our team in Rolla, KS. As a Farm Operations Management Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience in our daily farm operations and receive training in swine farm management and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tending and caring for pigs in all stages of production, including sow farms, nurseries, and grow/finish farms.
  • Learning and performing each task within the farm successfully, including monitoring feed and water supply, cleaning and disinfecting pens and alleys, treating animals as needed, processing piglets, and managing reporting.
  • Assisting the farm manager and assistant manager in daily duties and filling in for the managers when they are absent.
  • Ensuring that all daily and weekly production targets are met, as well as completing and submitting production analysis reports in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year university or college, or an associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or two to four years of related experience and/or training.
  • Demonstrated experience or ability to facilitate, encourage, coach, and lead a team to reach set goals.
  • Good critical thinking and judgment skills to reach the best possible solution to a problem.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people, including employees, managers, and senior management.
  • Flexible and able to work on assigned weekends (Saturday/Sunday) and be on call at all times of the day and week, when assigned, to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Bilingual - English and Spanish is required.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility.
  • The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Primarily a field position, working on the farms daily.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
