Job Description

As a Behavioral Health Advocate Lead at MIKID, you will be responsible for providing support, guidance, and direction to Direct Service Providers who deliver services that cater to the unique needs of youth with emotional, physical, and mental health challenges. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the highest level of care and supervision, while also assisting in training new providers, completing monthly summaries and intakes, and serving as the point of contact for Direct Services Providers in their assigned area.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety, security, and supervision of children at all times
  • Interact with children through planned activities that meet their social, emotional, and physical needs
  • Administer and chart prescribed medication as needed
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of child/family information
  • Report emergencies, concerns, and building needs to appropriate parties
  • Teach independent living, social, and communication skills to children
  • Ensure parents sign children in and out according to procedure
  • Complete and maintain records as needed
  • Assist in preparing and serving lunch and snacks (if applicable)
  • Attend weekly supervisions as required
  • Transport children as necessary for community respite
  • Serve as the point of contact for Contracted Direct Services Providers in their area
  • Complete intake paperwork with families for all referrals for their area
  • Train area Direct Care Providers on new procedures

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A working knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Knowledge of behavioral health agency policies and procedures
  • The ability to work well under deadline pressure and respond to inquiries from staff in a timely manner
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • CPR/1st Aid Certification
  • An Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain one
  • A valid Arizona Driver's License, business use vehicle insurance, and vehicle registration
  • The ability to complete all necessary paperwork and mandatory training prior to providing services
  • The passing of a background check and drug screening
  • An Associate's Degree or 60 credit hours of college credit
  • A minimum of one year experience in behavioral health or childcare

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

This role requires:

  • Constantly assisting children who have a behavioral health diagnosis, involving lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Standing, walking, stooping, and bending during flexible respite shifts
  • Operating a vehicle during the course of a respite day
  • Maintaining a stationary position for 15% of the time
  • Occasional movement within the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
