Job Title: Clinical Care Technician

Join Tufts Medicine as a Clinical Care Technician and play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care. As a member of our healthcare team, you will work under the supervision of a professional nurse to provide direct patient care, environmental support, and facilitate patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist professional nurses in providing functional care to patients, ensuring efficient and patient-centered care.
  • Provide or assist patients with activities of daily living in a safe, efficient, and respectful manner.
  • Collect, record, and communicate patient clinical data to assigned nurses in a timely manner.
  • Prepare rooms for admission, transfer, or discharge, ensuring standardized equipment is ready for use.
  • Transport or accompany patients to other areas of the hospital, maintaining efficiency, safety, and respect.
  • Provide comfort measures, such as positioning, changing linen, and back rubs, to patients in an efficient, safe, and respectful manner.
  • Promote patient activity by assisting with mobility and range of motion exercises as assigned.
  • Set up for procedures as requested by nursing/medical staff.
  • Clean and discard used equipment and supplies following procedures.
  • Collect specimens and perform specimen testing, maintaining Standard Precautions, and prepare specimens for the lab.
  • Responsible for care of biomedical equipment, checking par levels, and working order for blood pressure cuffs, EKG cables, leads, oximeter cables, etc.
  • Clean wounds and apply DSD after wound assessment by nurse.
  • Perform 12-lead EKG.
  • Connect monitoring equipment to patients under the direction of the nurse.
  • Care for patient belongings and complete belongings list.
  • Prime intravenous tubing with solution containing no medication.
  • Perform and document patient admission, transfer, and discharge tasks as requested by the nurse.
  • Answer call lights and seek appropriate personnel/action, performing hourly rounding per established guidelines.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Preferred qualifications include current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA), completion of Nursing Fundamentals in an accredited Nursing program, one year of related experience as a Nursing Assistant (NA), Patient Care Assistant (PCA), Critical Care Tech (CCT), or Patient Care Tech (PCT), and acute care experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting up to 30-35 lbs and turning patients.
  • Prolonged standing and walking.
  • Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation for performing procedures to operate computer keyboard.
  • Requires ability to see computer screen and reports.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with detailed, confidential material.
  • Computer experience.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
