About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team at Indeck Energy Services, Inc. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a leading developer, owner, and operator of energy facilities and independent power projects in North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify market opportunities and development prospects for renewable energy projects in the United States.
  • Assist in real estate development and land procurement for new projects.
  • Conduct and coordinate key initial project development tasks, including market assessments, feasibility analyses, and site reconnaissance.
  • Support and/or coordinate activities to secure site control in targeted areas and secure tax abatement and other financial incentives.
  • Establish and implement project development plans, and budgets, and track and report on project development tasks.
  • Coordinate with internal/external finance groups to develop project financial models.
  • Support for project origination, including executing business development campaigns on targeted market segments, implementing contact plans with customers, developing origination materials, and supporting successful power purchase agreement negotiation.
  • Identify key RFP opportunities and support the submission of RFP proposals.
  • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to align development outcomes with project origination, design, and construction constraints.
  • Retain and manage consultants and other independent contractors to perform project-related due diligence.
  • Represent Indeck with project stakeholders, including customers, landowners, and federal, state, and local officials.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • A graduate study including an MBA is a plus.
  • Experience in Real Estate Development, Land Procurement a plus
  • 3-8 years of proven experience in electric power project development, with a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with early to mid-stage development.
  • Successful, demonstrable track record in the development of renewable energy and/or energy storage projects.
  • Strong leadership skills and self-motivated.
  • Commercial acumen and the willingness to learn and grow professionally.
  • Strong, demonstrated understanding of power project structuring.
  • Ability to understand key business drivers.
  • Effective at producing and summarizing relevant information quickly to help drive decision-making.
  • Proven ability to understand, negotiate, and execute real estate contracts and power purchase agreements.
  • Ability to build and maintain business relationships and consensus with stakeholders across the business and at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to write effective, concise reports, presentations, and other written communications.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office package, including Microsoft Project.
