The Behavioral Health Technician position at Elwyn is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing support to children and adolescents with disabilities. This role involves working in various settings, including homes, schools, day care centers, and community-based sites.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide one-on-one interventions, including crisis intervention, behavior management support, emotional support, time-structured activities, and psychological rehabilitative activities. You will work collaboratively with the child, family, and treatment team to implement applied behavior analytic interventions and support the child's participation in activities such as summer camp, community events, and school-based events.
Key Responsibilities- Crisis Intervention and Support: Provide immediate rewards or consequences for behavior identified in the individual behavioral treatment plan.
- Record Keeping: Record behavioral data and document progress toward child's treatment plan goals into Elwyn electronic health records system.
- Progress Notes: Write daily progress notes consistent with treatment goal adjectives to be placed in child's case files.
- Billing: Complete and submit weekly encounter forms to ensure appropriate billing.
- Professional Development: Comply with the Behavioral Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Registered Behavior Tech (RBT) Ethics Code by seeking out the appropriate number of supervision hours per month to maintain compliance with their certification.
- Additional Duties: Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols.
To be successful in this role, you must possess one of the following certifications at the time of hire or obtain it within six (6) months of hire date:
- Board-certified assistant behavior analyst certification (BCaBA)
- Board-certified autism technician (BCAT) certification
- Behavior analysis certification from an organization that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute
- High school diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma and have received their registered behavioral tech (RBT) designation
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing Applied behavior analysis (ABA) services and a minimum of 40 hours of training related to ABA approved by the Department of Human Services (DHS) or provided by a continuing education provider approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
In addition to the above requirements, we are looking for individuals who can demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent judgment, and the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision. You should also be able to perform CPR and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols and possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
