Job Description

As a Renewable Energy Operations Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to support the overall operations and maintenance of one or more wind farms and all related facilities. This includes ensuring safety and maximizing availability in accordance with the Operations mission.

You will be responsible for safely executing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting and repair activities, training, and safety exercises. Additionally, you will maintain accountability and readiness of plant tools, equipment, and vehicles; provide technical guidance to the O&M team; track and maintain records of service activities through the digital maintenance management system; and help maintain the work ethic and culture of the plant O&M team.

Responsibilities
  • Assure that all operation and maintenance activities are performed in a safe manner consistent with policies and procedures established for the wind farm site.
  • Assist in conducting acceptance and performance tests on systems and equipment following planned maintenance or outages.
  • Perform safety and other wind farm-related tasks when assigned and fill in as back up to personnel at other RWE sites when necessary.
  • Assist with turbine maintenance, including services, major component work and replacement, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with the Balance of Plant procedures as needed, including substation and collection system maintenance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 6 years of work experience in operations and/or maintenance in power generation, transmission and/or distribution, and wind turbine experience is preferred.
  • Wind turbine experience with vendors such as Vestas, GE, Acciona, and Nordex is preferred.
  • Military experience in a technical field (electrical, electronics, or mechanical) is preferred.
  • Ability to relocate to within 1-hour drive of the site is required.
  • Hold a valid Diver's License in good standing is required.
  • Must be able to maintain a personal weight limitation of 270 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb wind towers on a daily basis and identify potential safety hazards.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
