Position Summary:

The Registered Sleep Technologist is responsible for overseeing and conducting various sleep studies. This role includes supervising, planning, and implementing training programs, as well as collaborating with medical directors and physicians to develop testing protocols and procedures. The technologist operates independently, without direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts all forms of polysomnography, including scoring, seizure hookups, rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) assessments, maintenance of wakefulness tests (MWT), home sleep apnea tests (HSAT), and multiple sleep latency tests (MSLT) within the laboratory setting.
  • Handles complex procedures such as advanced sleep apnea evaluations, RBD assessments, positive air pressure (PAP) titration, and seizure recognition.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and records for all polysomnography activities.
  • Coordinates the maintenance and repair of polysomnography equipment.
  • Adheres to established policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required educational assignments annually and actively participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Education requirements are not specified; however, candidates must meet the necessary standards for obtaining the required licenses and certifications.

Minimum Experience: None required.

Licensure Requirement: Candidates must possess and maintain CPR certification, registration with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT), and licensure as a Polysomnographic Technologist in the state of Tennessee as per TCA.
