The Seattle Theatre Group seeks an exceptional Teaching Artist to lead our STG AileyCamp program, fostering the growth and development of young artists. As a dedicated professional in this role, you will inspire and empower campers to reach their full potential.

About the Role

This part-time position offers a competitive hourly rate of $75 for teaching, with additional compensation for planning and support staff duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging class content, choreographing for the final presentation, and providing on-site support to the STG team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement high-quality dance classes, incorporating various styles such as Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Horton/Modern, and Percussionist.
  • Collaborate with the AileyCamp Manager and other faculty members to create a cohesive and engaging curriculum.
  • Choreograph a captivating final performance, taking into account the needs and abilities of the campers.
  • Provide individualized support to campers, addressing their unique needs and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, including written evaluations at the beginning and end of the program.
Requirements and Qualifications
  1. A minimum of 8 years of experience in teaching artistry, with a focus on middle school students and age-appropriate choreography.
  2. Proven expertise in leading live music classes, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience for participants.
  3. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing circumstances.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a passion for building relationships with colleagues, campers, and parents.
  5. Dedication to racial equity and social justice work in the arts, with a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment.
  6. Ability to dress in the AileyCamp staff uniform, maintaining a neat and clean appearance that aligns with the organization's standards.
