Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient interviews to determine medical problems/conditions and document in charts for physicians.
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs and weight.
  • Assist physicians with patient examinations as needed.
  • Review physician orders, lab requests, or follow-up needs with patients.
  • Document services performed on appropriate forms.
  • Dress wounds as instructed and apply compresses, ice, and heat packs.
  • Report adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge.
  • Administer specified medication orally or by subcutaneous or intermuscular injection and note time and amount on patients' charts.
  • Assemble and use clinic equipment.
  • Collect samples from patients for testing and perform routine laboratory tests.
  • Sterilize equipment and supplies.
  • Clean rooms and change linens.
  • Maintain supplies, including stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
  • Respond to patient inquiries by evaluating and responding to their problems and questions.
  • Follow up with patients who miss appointments.
  • Follow up with patients on lab results and schedule additional tests as needed.
  • Coordinate referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a National League for Nursing accredited program with an Associate's degree (A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Licensed as a Practical Nurse.
  • Current hands-on Certification in Basic Life Support is required, with Advanced Cardiac Life Support may also be required based on the scope of contract services.
