Job Overview

Terrapin House Inc. is seeking a part-time Mental Health Support Specialist to support a 39-year-old individual in Northeast Philadelphia.

About the Role

This role involves providing emotional support and accompaniment to the individual in various community settings, promoting socialization and participation in art and music activities.

Responsibilities
  • Engage in community activities with the individual, such as going on outings and participating in hobbies.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining relationships within the community.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance in daily life, including problem-solving and decision-making.
Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrate knowledge of or passion for music and/or art, with the ability to encourage the individual's participation in related activities.
  • Exhibit patience and accommodation, capable of redirecting repetitive behaviors with tact and acknowledgment.
  • Be proficient in breathing and calming techniques, with the ability to instruct and guide the individual.
Work Environment

This is a part-time position requiring flexible scheduling, including Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Start times may vary between 10 am and 6 pm depending on the day's activities.

Estimated Salary Range:

$35,000 - $45,000 per year, based on location and experience.
