Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Dialysis Nurse to join our team at Lifespan. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to individuals undergoing dialysis treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and identify patient needs utilizing advanced assessment skills.
  • Develop individualized plans of care, establishing interventions and patient outcomes in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare team members.
  • Implement plans of care according to proper procedure, including clinical observation and equipment monitoring, administration of medications, and communication with healthcare team members.
  • Provide education and direct patient care for those utilizing outpatient dialysis services.
  • Communicate relevant information regarding patient needs or circumstances to appropriate persons and/or healthcare team members.
  • Administer medications according to policy and procedures.
  • Obtain orders, lab work, and follow appropriate nurse-driven protocols.
  • Document nursing actions and make adjustments based on evaluation.
  • Troubleshoot dialysis equipment when necessary.
  • Provide leadership by delegating, supervising, and participating in safe nursing care activities provided by support staff.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of patient care and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assess and provide appropriate teaching based on patient and family needs.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.
  • Utilize all available resources to provide quality, cost-effective patient care.
Requirements
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island or in another state that participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred. Certified Nephrology Nursing Certification preferred.
  • Must have current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island or in another state that participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Preferred 12 months of nursing experience and an additional 3 months of specialized dialysis experience providing clinical nursing care to dialysis patients in either a chronic or acute setting.
