Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician II to join our Central Staffing team at Memorial Hermann Health System. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Select and dispense medications according to patient medication files or cart-fill lists.
  • Stock and monitor drug inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies.
  • Inspect and maintain emergency medication trays.
  • Pack and label unit dose oral liquids/tablets, and maintain pre-pack records.
  • Respond to oral requests for medications from nursing personnel and other departments.
  • Post and code patient pharmaceutical charges and credits into automated systems.
  • Prepare intravenous antimicrobials, large volume parenterals, adult and neonatal TPN solutions, epidurals, and intravenous anti-neoplastics.
  • Document Quality Improvement activities for the I.V. Room.
  • Follow processes to ensure all medications are compliant with technology safety checks.
  • Prepare sterile products in an accurate and aseptic manner when appropriate.
  • Attend to customers as a liaison and gather medication histories as needed.
  • Properly manage pharmaceutical waste.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, and department-based goals.
  • Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.

Requirements

  • Current Pharmacy Tech registration or Pharmacist intern registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy required.
  • ACPE I.V Certification with completion of 40-hour course in I.V. admixture preferred.
  • Pharmacy Sterile Product certification through accredited program required if incumbent compounds sterile products.
  • Three (3) years of pharmacy experience required, preferably in a hospital pharmacy.
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology.

Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The Pharmacy Technician II must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served and demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles.
