Position Overview:
The primary objective of this role is to uphold the cleanliness and hygiene of all university buildings and facilities to the highest standards.

Job Responsibilities:
This position is hands-on and involves overseeing the daily operations of the custodial team at Husson University.

Key Duties Include:

  • Assisting in the formulation of daily workload schedules to optimize efficiency and meet operational needs while providing guidance to staff.
  • Conducting inspections of custodial work to ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Supervising day shift operations, including time card reviews, planning, scheduling, training, and consulting to ensure safe and efficient departmental functions.
  • Monitoring budget expenditures to ensure compliance with financial guidelines while maintaining adequate personnel and supplies.
  • Recommending and implementing cost-saving measures and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluating the performance of custodial staff and providing necessary training to enhance job effectiveness.
  • Ensuring that all cleaning activities adhere to university policies and are completed on time and within budget.
  • Developing and managing a comprehensive cleaning schedule for all campus facilities.
  • Providing regular status updates to the Supervisor of Custodial Services.
  • Conducting training sessions for custodial staff on safety, cleaning techniques, and proper equipment usage.
  • Assisting custodial personnel with daily tasks to maintain cleanliness and create an appealing environment.
  • Responding to emergencies and implementing appropriate actions to resolve issues.
  • Inspecting the physical condition of facilities and submitting maintenance requests as needed.
  • Overseeing contracted labor and ensuring compliance with university standards.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant experience with demonstrated leadership skills is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn institutional software systems.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
    • Reliable attendance and commitment to job responsibilities.
    • Willingness to be available on campus during various shifts as needed.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs continuously. The role requires frequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting up to 75 pounds. The employee may also need to use ladders and push/pull equipment weighing up to 300 pounds.

This position may expose the employee to various hazards, including chemical, mechanical, and electrical risks, as well as dust and fumes. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level, and irregular hours may be required.
