Job Title: Custodian

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at the City of Harrisonburg. As a Custodian, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our citizens and employees.

Job Summary:

The Custodian will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to cleaning and maintaining our facilities, including sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces, emptying trash and recyclables, and restocking supplies. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and provide exceptional customer service to colleagues and the public.

Responsibilities:
  • Clean and maintain facilities, including sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces
  • Empty trash and recyclables, and restock supplies
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
