Job Responsibilities:

We are looking for candidates for the following areas:

The Student Intern will work under the guidance of the Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence Instructor/Coordinator. Responsibilities include assisting with various computer and technical support tasks within the Information Technology department of the State of South Carolina.
  • Helpdesk Support: Act as the primary contact for users; conduct remote and in-person troubleshooting using diagnostic methods. Document issues and resolutions in a log; complete support tickets.
  • Data Security: Under the direction of the supervisor and IT department, assist in setting up and installing new hardware and software systems; troubleshoot technical issues (network, connectivity, and server-related); apply updates and software patches.
  • Instruction: Facilitate introductory computer training sessions for the campus and broader community and support training initiatives.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in campus-wide committees.
  • Professional Development: Collaborate with the supervisor to create a professional development plan; attend necessary courses, seminars, or workshops.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:

Currently enrolled in an academic certificate or associate degree program in Computer Technology or Cybersecurity. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required along with a recommendation from an instructor or professor. Availability to work twenty hours per week during the academic semesters and three to five weeks during the summer is necessary.

Additional Comments:
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills are essential; familiarity with the college's mission, vision, and values is preferred.
  • Ability to collect and report visual data and prepare reports is required.
  • The intern will operate under the direct supervision of the instructor/coordinator and adhere to the policies of the College and the State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education.
  • Willingness to work during evening and weekend events may be required.
