Job Summary

Heritage Environmental Services is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Group Manager to oversee the maintenance operations within a high-hazard incineration facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment and infrastructure, while maintaining compliance with safety regulations and minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of maintenance technicians and contractors to ensure the effective execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans for equipment in the incineration unit, ensuring optimal performance and reducing the risk of equipment failure.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards, promoting a culture of safety within the team.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for mechanical, electrical, and control systems, resolving complex issues and minimizing downtime.
  • Conduct performance reviews and training for maintenance personnel, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks to minimize operational downtime, ensuring the facility operates at optimal capacity.
  • Oversee the repair and maintenance of incineration equipment, including furnaces, boilers, pumps, compressors, valves, and emission control systems, ensuring they are properly inspected, calibrated, and tested.
  • Implement and maintain computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track maintenance tasks, inventory, and work orders, improving efficiency and reducing errors.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to the incineration of hazardous materials, including waste handling, storage, and emissions control, minimizing the risk of environmental incidents.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and internal safety teams during inspections and audits, ensuring the facility meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Work with procurement teams to source spare parts and manage inventory for critical equipment, ensuring the facility has the necessary resources to operate effectively.
  • Develop budgets for maintenance operations and projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions that meet the facility's needs.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and maintain documentation related to equipment performance, repairs, and modifications, providing valuable insights for future maintenance planning.

Education/Experience: Required: High School diploma or Equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years' experience in maintenance operations within a high-hazard, industrial environment, preferably incineration, chemical processing, or power generation. Previous supervisory or team lead experience is required. Preferred: OSHA certification and knowledge of NFPA codes are preferred. Maintenance certifications (e.g., CMRP) are a plus.

Knowledge and Abilities: Strong leadership and communication skills. Knowledge of hazardous waste incineration processes, environmental regulations, and safety standards. Proficiency with CMMS, scheduling, and reporting tools. Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and control systems. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in high-hazard environments and comply with safety protocols. Occasional after-hours work during shutdowns or emergency repairs. Exposure to hazardous materials and high-temperature equipment is expected, with appropriate PPE provided.
