New York, New York, United States New York City Economic Development Corporation Full time
About Us: New York City Economic Development Corporation is a mission-driven organization that works for a vibrant, inclusive, and globally competitive economy for all New Yorkers. We take a comprehensive approach through four main strategies: strengthen confidence in NYC as a great place to do business; grow innovative sectors with a focus on equity; build neighborhoods as places to live, learn, work, and play; and deliver sustainable infrastructure for communities and the city's future economy.

Salary:$90,000-$92,000 USD

Job Description: As a Senior Associate within our Cruise Portfolio team, you will play a crucial role in fostering economic growth and positioning the portfolio as a leader in environmental sustainability and socially responsible urban tourism. You will provide strong project management skills to the entire Cruise portfolio, ensuring structure is in place to meet desired timelines and budgets for the Cruise portfolio's action plans. This critical role will also have an external-facing component, working with the community, cruise industry partners, and government to achieve our vision and strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a business-minded individual to join our growing team and contribute to making New York City the global model for inclusive innovation and economic growth.

As a key member of our team, you will lead on specific action plans and workstreams to achieve the goals of the Cruise Portfolio, serving as a point of contact for the Cruise portfolio from lease administration, tenant relations, property management, project management, procurement, negotiations, and business development initiatives. You will help implement the vision, strategy, and action plan for the Cruise portfolio with exceptional project management skills that support the entire portfolio in tracking goals and associated action plans.

You will assist with engagement of industry and community partners, workforce development organizations, and regulatory and public agencies. Your strong project management skills and data analysis will support negotiating agreements to enhance the portfolio's triple-bottom line performance objectives and market competitiveness. Additionally, you will work across the Asset Management Department and the organization to develop, implement, and coordinate processes, analysis, and strategies for managing capital projects and funding.

Maintaining various project management databases with timely updates and relevant information will be essential, closely coordinating with the Cruise portfolio team. You will also work with portfolio head and NYCEDC's External Affairs, Equity, and Legal teams to ensure integrated marketing and community sponsorship programs are in place and properly managed across various social, media, and web platforms. Furthermore, you will engage with key stakeholders to foster mutually beneficial partnerships and community engagement initiatives.

In this dynamic role, you will leverage your experience to implement strategies to enhance decision-making, compliance, and desired outcomes. Flexibility between leading interdepartmental project teams as the core project manager and supporting other interdepartmental projects teams as a valuable team member is required.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience, in public, environmental or transportation policy, planning, urban development, economics, real estate, finance, or a related field; Master's Degree in a related field preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of work experience in public policy, transportation, urban planning, management, or strategic consulting
  • Interest in the cruise industry and the development of maritime infrastructure
  • Demonstrated interest and excitement around developing and implementing environmentally and socially responsible initiatives related to electrical shore power, other renewable energy solutions, and sustainable urban tourism
  • Demonstrated written, visual, and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and engagement with external and senior internal stakeholders
  • Proven project management experience and financial analysis skill set
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing needs and opportunities
  • Highly analytical and strategically minded, with a proven ability to creatively navigate and solve complex challenges
  • Proactive 'self-starter' and 'team player' who is enterprising and resourceful, organized, and results-oriented
  • New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire
