Job Summary

The Plant Manager will oversee the daily operations of a manufacturing facility, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and quality. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to motivate and direct a team of employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control plant activity, internal systems, and operations to ensure accuracy and compliance with company rules, standards, and applicable laws.
  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize facility assignments to meet production goals and objectives.
  • Motivate and direct the workforce to surpass company goals and objectives, ensuring the safety of each person within the facility.
  • Implement and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring the use of proper safety PPE, equipment, and work methods.
  • Lead the facility's safety process, implementing behavioral-based safety systems and monitoring operational costs to meet established plant budgets.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize location infrastructure to meet customer demands and resolve problems by adjusting priorities, schedules, and workforce assignments.
  • Control obsolete and excess inventory, providing accurate inventory models to maintain inventory levels.
  • Monitor corrective actions to improve quality, efficiency, service, and profits, analyzing and enhancing those actions to meet contractual obligations to customers.
  • Ensure sufficient capacity is available to carry out objectives and delivery of products, reviewing all internal and external reporting.
  • Analyze operations to evaluate performance and determine areas of potential cost reduction and improvement.
  • Understand and comply with all company policies, approving and monitoring work completion and performance.
  • Champion continuous improvement, leading the team to develop actions that drive waste out of processes and products through work center KPI boards.
  • Conduct employee meetings, counsel, and bring resolution to team member issues.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance updates to present to management, highlighting improvements and abnormal conditions, including immediate actions.

Requirements

  • Associates degree with 2+ years of manufacturing leadership experience, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Equivalent to five to seven years of increasingly responsible experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and in a project management environment.
  • Experience in strong and effective leadership skills, managing multiple departments and/or shifts.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles, including resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and capital resources.
  • Ability to consider and evaluate relationships between numerous factors, extract, compile, and analyze data from written sources, individuals, or multiple work orders.
  • ISO experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to implement Lean Principles and lead cross-functional teams in Root Cause analysis.
  • Ability to develop systems and tools to track, manage, maintain, and improve quality systems.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Personal computer and software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite, JD Edwards or similar ERP system.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
