The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in a long-term care setting. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
Assists with basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned residents.
Documents resident interactions as needed, and the outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary. Communicates resident's changing condition and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
Qualifications include a High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required, with a minimum age of 16 and prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred. Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement. CNA training and certification required and provided by facility.
