We are seeking a skilled Principal Software Test Engineer to join our team at Boston Scientific. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative medical devices that transform lives.

Job Description

The Principal Software Test Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products, particularly in the Electrophysiology domain area. Key responsibilities include designing and developing test cases, acting as a test lead, and executing automated test scripts. You will also contribute to technical strategies for test automation teams and enhance the test automation framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and execute test cases to ensure product quality by verifying system functionality and business requirements.
  • Act as a test lead for projects, determining test methodology, test strategy, and test data setup.
  • Design and develop innovative test automation tools.
  • Lead technical strategies for test automation teams.
  • Execute automated test scripts.
  • Ensure tests are conducted in accordance with written procedures.
  • Enhance the test automation framework and debug issues discovered in Jenkins builds.
  • Plan new test case development for various software releases.
  • Document test results and write test reports.
  • Diagnose problems and report bugs and enhancements in a bug tracking system.
  • Provide technical guidelines, share knowledge, and demonstrate product areas to other team members.
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings, product review meetings, and bug triage meetings.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree along with 7+ years of software test engineer or related experience or 5+ years with a master's degree or advanced degree.
  • In-depth knowledge of software development life cycle and test methodology.
  • Experience with design and development of test automation frameworks.
  • Strong programming experience in languages such as Python, MATLAB, C, or C++.
  • Prior experience with source code management tools like Git and BitBucket.
  • Deep understanding of Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with test automation tools like Squish and knowledge of Qt.
  • Demonstrated experience executing unit tests, performance tests, static analysis, and memory leak analysis.
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum development environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A strong product quality and test lead experience preferably in the medical device domain.
  • Experience with ultrasound and other imaging medical devices.
  • A natural attention to detail and a penchant for organizing and documenting.
  • A good learner who can master complex software and quickly adapt to new tools and technologies.
  • Ability to think logically and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating both technical and non-technical information across teams and departments.
  • Knowledge of company policies regarding ISO and FDA documentation and compliance for medical devices.
What We Offer

Boston Scientific offers a competitive salary range of $125,000 - $175,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
