Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Meat Department Team Lead to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our meat department team, you will be responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to team members, working closely with the team trainer to train new hires, and ensuring all necessary tasks are completed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and delegate tasks to team members, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Work with the team trainer to develop and implement training programs, focusing on building a high-performance team and minimizing turnover.
  • Assist in training new team members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials.
  • Resolve difficult customer situations, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing team members as necessary to meet customer demands.
  • Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members, promoting a positive work environment and fostering exceptional morale.
  • Communicate and maintain team member safety and security standards, adhering to regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations, supporting the growth and development of team members.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess excellent communication skills, a willingness to lead and develop others, and extensive knowledge of meat team procedures and policies.

  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team-building, and customer relationship skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of meat products and ability to communicate living conditions of animals to customers and team members.
  • Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Thorough product knowledge.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
  • Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
  • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
