Salary Information

We are pleased to offer a competitive salary range of $55-$65 per hour for this per diem opportunity, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About the Role

The Respiratory Therapist-Registered PRN (U) plays a critical role in the delivery of high-quality patient care at our University of Miami Hospital. As part of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive respiratory therapy services.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct diagnostic tests, such as electrocardiograms, stress testing, and lung capacity tests, to evaluate patients' cardiopulmonary functions.
  2. Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist or instruct patients in breathing exercises.
  3. Set up and operate devices like mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators, following specified parameters of treatment.
  4. Determine requirements for treatment, including type, method, and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, and medication and dosages.
  5. Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess patient condition.
  6. Monitor patients' physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs and blood chemistry changes, and consult with physicians if adverse reactions occur.
  7. Maintain accurate records of patients' pertinent identification and therapy information.
  8. Inspect, clean, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  9. Supervise, teach, and train students, respiratory therapy technicians, and assistants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
  • Florida Department of Health Respiratory Therapy License.
  • Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in respiratory therapy.
