Job Summary

The University System of Maryland seeks a seasoned and visionary leader to serve as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). This is an exceptional opportunity for an innovative and forward-thinking executive to drive the system's human resources strategy and advance the institution's goals.

About the Role

The CHRO will provide primary oversight of USM labor, collective bargaining, and human resource functions. Reporting to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, this executive will bring a deep understanding of human resources best practices to leverage the system's human capital and promote a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive human resources strategy to support the system's goals and objectives
  • Provide leadership and oversight of labor relations, collective bargaining, and human resource functions
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders to advance the system's human resources agenda
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources to support human resources initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies

Requirements

The successful candidate will be a highly driven executive with a demonstrated record of leading change, an innovative mindset, and a strong vision for equity and inclusion. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education is required, as is significant and progressively responsible leadership experience in human resources, labor relations, law, or policy, including management and supervisory experience in a large, complex, and highly matrixed unionized environment.
